The First

I believe that Doug Funnie probably taught guys that it was cool to write about your day, your thoughts, and all of your secrets on paper. The cooler thing about this was that we didn't have to call them "diaries" like our female counterparts did. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with diaries or girls, but at the age where "cooties" still existed, I did not want anything to do with either. Therefore, I am glad Nickelodeon created "Doug", which helped guys gain confidence and the peace that it is totally cool to write about anything they pleased without being made fun of. So if you are secretly saying to yourself, "Aww, Christian is writing an online diary. How cute!" My response to that is this: "It is not a diary! It is a journal! There is a difference!"

I remember my first journal. It was a black and white spotted composition book, just like Doug Funnie had. Of course I had to start off every entry with "Dear Journal...". Even though I did not write about "The Adventures of Quailman" or my crush on Pattie Mayonnaise, I believe I still had some interesting stuff to say. Much of it was about my life and growing up in Morgan City, La,  and living in a house full of girls. Anything that happened in our house, or in my town, was quite interesting and usually ended up in my little composition book. I would write and write for hours because I always had a lot to say.  This was probably because I did not say much to anyone, so when I was able to write, it would be more like novel entries.
I was very quiet and incredibly shy growing up. It took me until I reached high school to finally gain some confidence to at least laugh at some of the jokes that my friends told. It was that bad. My grandmother raised my brother and I. My aunt and her two daughters lived with us as well and they did all the talking. There was rarely a dull moment with my family. They are all jokesters. My family could probably teach a class on Sarcasm, they have it mastered. I love my family though. They are incredible. The thing I like about them most is the importance of being together often. We have huge family functions on a regular basis. If the weather's nice on a given weekend, rest assured there will be some kind of seafood or BBQ at someone's house and everyone will be there! I am grateful for that and I can say that my family has had a big part in shaping the person I am today.
It took me a while to decide how I wanted to start my blogging experience. I received some very good tips from Bri Blakeney on how to make this whole thing happen. I figured touching on a little about my family would be a great way to start off.  What I would for anyone who happens to read any of my blogs is merely a peak of what goes on inside my life. There are many times when I would hang out with friends and inspiration would hit me and I would think, "Wow, this would be great to write about". Be excited, I have some good things to share with all of you and I just hope that you enjoy reading them just as much as I enjoy writing them. Until next time...
